Chanderi silk - Evolution & its Essence

Chanderi silk is the result of traditional methods of hand-weaving that have been developed over the centuries, and passed down through generations. Chanderi silk is considered the fabric of choice for saris produced for royalty, due to its light-weight quality and intricate designs. The production of this textile is specific to the town of Chanderi.Chanderi silk sarees and salwar kameez are not only desired for their light weight texture and intricately woven embroidered motifs all over India but are very popular among international buyers who have an eye for Indian ethnic wear.

Chanderi is produced using three raw materials: cotton, silk thread, and zari. All of these materials are imported from other regions in India, as well as China, Japan, and Korea. The colors of Chanderi silk come from both natural as well as chemical processes. Currently, chemical dyes are preferred due to their fast-acting quality. As generations passed by, today we are able to see modernalised Plain chanderi silks too in addition to the Traditional ones.

The main reason for starting up a article like this is to give knowledge of Fabrics which are being often heard but not pretty aware about them when compared to other fabric types.
